This Masterclass Workshop will explore trauma reaction in children and their families following traumatic events including disaster and single incident events. The masterclass will examine child trauma reactions across the life course and the longitudinal impact of trauma on the behaviour, education, and outcomes for children and their families. The workshop is suitable for advanced practitioners in psychology, social work, and human service practitioners as well as other professionals working with children and their families. The workshop is presented by Professor Justin Kenardy, and Drs Alex De Young and Robyne Le Brocque. These researchers and practitioners are internationally recognised researchers specialising in trauma in children. Prof. Kenardy was integral in establishing the Posttraumatic Stress Treatment Guidelines with a particular focus on children and young people. The team worked with Queensland Health to respond to the flood disasters in Queensland and NSW in 2011 and have presented their resources for post-disaster recovery in children and families nationally and internationally.
