About Enemy: Enemy (Penguin 2016) is Ruth Clare’s award-winning memoir of her childhood experience growing up with a traumatised Vietnam Veteran father and an alcoholic mother. This deeply moving memoir gives voice to the insights and understandings of young Ruth spanning ages three to seventeen. It is also an exploration of the psychological impact of war on veterans and their families and unpacks how the unresolved issues of one generation effect the next. Ruth will be speaking to us about the influence of her childhood on her adult life and relationships. She will share some of the transformations she made during seven years of weekly psychotherapy and will shed light on some of the surprising and creative therapeutic techniques that turned out to be key to creating the trust and love that allowed profound change to take place.

About Ruth: Ruth Clare is an award-winning author, copywriter and teacher. She is also a TEDx and keynote speaker. Her work has appeared in publications such as Meanjin, Elle, The Good Weekend and Better Reading.
